I remeber there used to be many more of these large sleeper setups in the late 90s when I was a kid. With big big hopped up engines under the hood. My pop knew a few of them and had stories about how they'd pull hills fully loaded.

I enjoyed my first 500k. After that it was a job with brief moments of enjoyment. Living in solitary confinement (in a truck) is not good for your mental health. Physically I was in great shape because I ate healthy and exercised every day, but my mental health suffered.
Whenever I talk to younger guys getting into trucking I always say - do OTR for 5 years to make money and then switch to local or get a different job. Once you get older, have a wife and kids - solitary life on the road is not recommended. How are you doing now? Still trucking? How's your mental health?

Driving a big rig is a skill that you never master, your always learning from new experiences. Learn from old timers, “not this guy” and be humble! Remember it’s ok to go slow, and pull over when unsure!

They get usually rebuilt (overhauled) every 1 million miles. The block stays the same but all internals are replaced.

Been in logistics for 15 years, word of advice to anyone pursuing a trucking job, take a company route over owner operator. Fuel insurance and brokers screwing you over will put you outta business. Can you make money as owner operator? Of course! A ton of money, but you better trust the people youre accepting loads from.
